Cost: $8199 (double occupancy only)

Location: San Jose del Cabo, La Paz and San Ignacio Lagoon in Mexico

Details: Tom and Cree first met 30 years ago in Baja California as sea kayaking guides.  They spent their winters exploring pristine emerald bays and snorkeling with sea lions and turtles.  Baja was unique, a place where the desert met the sea.  Baja became one of their favorite destinations, and they have been returning ever since.  Tom has photographed numerous assignments along the peninsula and in the Sea of Cortez.

We have set up a bucket list trip to experience the best Baja has to offer.  Imagine photographing a friendly Gray Whale right beside your boat, or trying to capture a crimson sunset with hundreds of dolphins swimming past.  John Steinbeck was captivated by the Sea of Cortez, and Baja travelers know once you visit you will want to go back.

This unique photographic trip starts on the tip of the peninsula at San Jose Del Cabo.  From there we head right out in search of Humpback Whales near the cape. Next we travel to one of our favorite Baja towns, La Paz, for a marine encounter snorkeling with sea lions and swimming with whale sharks.  These sharks are docile plankton eaters and allow us to swim right beside them while capturing incredible images.

Next, we board our private luxury yacht and cruise the Sea of Cortez for multiple days.  Accommodations on the boat are plush. Be ready to dine on fresh seafood and enjoy cocktails outside for sunset.  This time of year the Sea of Cortez has high concentrations of whales.  On our last photo trip here we saw humpbacks, orcas, blue, fin and pilot whales.  And we saw dolphins….literally thousands of dolphins…the photo opportunities were nonstop.  Aerial dolphin photography was a daily activity.  Colonies of Blue Footed Boobies and Magnificent Frigate birds are on islands we will explore and photograph.

We return to La Paz and fly on a private flight to the middle of Baja and the world famous San Ignacio lagoon.  Years ago the fisherman in San Ignacio noticed the Gray Whales came in large numbers to raise their calves in the calm waters of the lagoon. The whales were very friendly, often swimming right up the boat and wanting contact with the fisherman.  This unique experience still happens today in the protected lagoon.  We will take multiple panga (small boat) rides to photograph the whales.  These magnificent creatures are curious, and often come right up to the boat only a few feet away.  This experience is one you will not forget.  Our accommodations at San Ignacio are right on the water in luxury tents (similar to Africa).  Each tent has its own shower, hot water, wifi and seating area.

We are incredibly excited to offer this amazing photographic expedition.  Let us show you the magic of Baja from two photographers who have been traveling here for decades.  Once you experience Baja, you will want to come back.
