Badlands National Park

 Details: Badlands National Park is a mesmerizing land of multi-hued rock formations and abundant wildlife. The expansive views in the park give way to roaming herds of bison and big horn sheep. In June, the prairie grass is green and provides a vibrant contrast to the colorful geography of Badlands. Thunderstorms with lightning are common this time of year and make for terrific skyscapes. Sunrise and sunset will be spent in the park capturing dramatic landscapes. During the midday hours we will visit a local ghost towns and focus on wildlife photography. Our trip will be based out of Wall, South Dakota, a town filled with colorful cowboy boots and local characters.


Nome: Arctic Birds and Musk Ox

Details: Join Tom and Cree as they explore the tundra wildlife near Nome, Alaska during the height of Alaska’s summer. Nome is a small, quirky, coastal village located right on the Bering Sea.  With only plane and boat access, this unique town blends rustic Alaska life with stunning access to tundra and arctic wildlife.   This semi-private workshop bases out of Nome, Alaska.  We are limiting this trip to six participants to ensure comfort and easy access to the birds we photograph.  Three roads leave Nome, each offering incredible access to different environments and bird species.  Each day we will drive in two SUVs with a window seat for each person.


Jaguars in the Pantanal

This expedition gives you an in-depth view of the natural history and wildlife of the Pantanal, with a special emphasis on wildlife and birdlife photography. To make the best of photography along the Three Brothers River, this itinerary takes advantage of a lovely lodge retreat along the river. The wildlife is spectacular and will have easier access to photograph. Jaguar Retreat offers private viewing of riverbank Jaguars due to its great distance from the many lodges closer to Porto Jofre.


Brown Bears of Lake Clark

Details: This is our most popular bear destination in Alaska and we are going in late July in hopes of photographing playful spring cubs! We start in Anchorage for a welcome dinner and fly to our comfortable lodge at Silver Salmon Creek in Lake Clark National Park to photograph coastal brown bears and their cubs. This time of year they graze on sedge grasses, dig for clams and start catching fish in the creek.  The bear density in this area is remarkable. We will spend our days photographing bears as well as  a morning photographing puffin by small boat.


Brown Bear Safari in Katmai

Details: Photographing brown bears in Alaska is a bucket list trip for wildlife photographers. Bristol Bay hosts one of the largest salmon runs in the world. The  Sockeye salmon attract bears….and the number of bears are staggering. On this trip we photograph boars, sows and plenty of cubs….often chasing bright red salmon up the streams. We fly into a remote lodge on Lake Iliamna and have access to bush planes each day to transport us to our shooting locations.  Each day we can plan our destination based on where the bears are congregating: Katmai National Park, Brooks Falls, Lake Clark National Park or Bristol Bay.


Monument Valley

Details: Join Tom and Cree with the Wild Source on a 9 day adventure to photograph the great migration on Kenya’s Masai Mara. The Masai Mara during migration is a bucket list photo tour. The Mara is also unsurpassed for game viewing, the big cat viewing is astounding. Lion, leopard and cheetah are all represented and it is not uncommon to have a cat-trick of seeing all three species in a single day. Our guides know many of the individual cats by name and focus on observing natural behavior.


Route 66: Oklahoma City to Amarillo

Details: Join Tom and Cree on a photo tour of Main Street USA, following Route 66 from Oklahoma City, Ok  to Amarillo, Texas.  We visit small towns with old brick buildings that give a glimpse of time gone by. In between towns we drive on sleepy roads winding through cotton fields and oil derricks. We found some of the best old road bed we have ever seen on this section of Route 66.  


Route 66: Albuquerque to Winslow, Arizona

Details: We start our photo tour on Route 66 in Albuquerque, NM  and continue all the way to Winslow, AZ.  We will be based out of classic Route 66 hotels during the trip (El VadoEl Rancho and The Wigwam Motel) and the La Posada, and have maximized our photography time and minimized our driving time between locations.   


Arches and Canyonlands

Details: This is one of our all time favorite parks. Tom has been leading photo workshops and doing assignments in Moab for the last 20 years. Join us and photograph striking red rock formations on blue skies. Explore myriad arches against an iconic western landscape. On this workshop we will photograph the best features in Arches and Canyonlands National Parks including Delicate Arch, Mesa Arch, Balanced Rock, Landscape Arch, the Windows and Fisher Towers in Castleton Valley.


Bosque and White Sands

Details: Bosque del Apache in New Mexico is one of the best places in the world to photograph sandhill cranes. The cranes fly into Bosque’s “Crane Ponds” each afternoon, sometimes silhouetted on a blood red sky. For the second part of the trip, we will travel to White Sands National Park to photograph stark yucca plants on dazzling white dunes of gypsum sand. There is plenty of space to roam looking for the perfect desert dune landscape.
