Details: Every fall in Haines, Alaska bald eagles begin to congregate along the Chilkat River.  A fall salmon run attracts these magnificent birds, resulting in the largest gathering of bald eagles in the world.  Their numbers are staggering.  More than 3000 eagles arrive, and it is not uncommon to have 10 eagles lined up on one log with hundreds of birds in nearby trees.  This is a bucket list trip for wildlife photographers.  Imagine listening to the constant chattering of bald eagles while viewing multiple birds in your camera viewfinder feasting on salmon.  Amazing!

Patagonia Photography Workshop

Twenty five years ago Tom and I pushed our sea kayaks off a rocky beach into the pristine waters of Seno Aysen in Patagonia.  We began a two month sea kayak journey deep into remote fjords and rainforest rarely visited by anyone.  We encountered exotic wildlife, rolled our kayaks while penguins swam past, and read Darwin journey entries about the areas we were visiting.  We were so far off the grid that we couldn’t find accurate tide charts for the fjords we were exploring.   After 62 days of paddling, we were spellbound by Patagonia.  We’ve been returning ever since to this spectacular area.

Patagonia is a region defined by jaw-dropping landscapes, abundant wildlife and rich gaucho culture.  We’ve been working with the same guide for over 20 years, and have specifically designed this photo tour to experience the best Patagonia has to offer in both Argentina and Chile.

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina.                Spaces Available: 2 spaces

Dates: December 2-12, 2019 (in country – does not include flight days)

Cost: $6889 double occupancy, $1200 single supplement, $1000 deposit due upon registration.

Northern Lights in Fairbanks

Dates: February 10-16, 2019

Fairbanks is one of the best places in the world to shoot the Northern Lights. The aurora index is very high at this time of year and we have timed our trip for a quarter moon – just enough light to see the surroundings, but not so much that it effects the photos.  Unlike Norway and Iceland, Fairbanks is an inland location. This means there is a better chance of unobstructed skies at night. Our trip includes hotels, transportation and meals.

Cost: $3800 double occupancy. $3950 single occupancy.
