Details: Old Car City is the world’s largest classic car junkyard. This location is the perfect place to photograph classic American cars that have been aged with roots, rust and time. Students will use  ambient light as well as speed lights and gels to create really unique photos. What you will learn on this workshop:

  • Composition
  • Developing your creativity; self assignments to explore your vision
  • HDR techniques; in Lightroom and using third party software
  • Tone mapping the right way
  • Lightroom; the ten steps you need to do to every image
  • Maximizing any light source to elevate your images above the rest
  • How to use flash to improve your images
  • Using light modifiers and gels
  • Using reflectors
  • Working with models; the do’s and don’ts of posing
  • How to create an evocative portrait

We will be photographing during the day with a midday lunch break, and evenings will be in the conference room for classes and reviewing images. See highlights from our 2017 trip.

Recommended camera gear:

  • Camera body
  • Lenses ranging from wide angle to telephoto (24 mm or wider)
  •  Tripod
  • Speedlight/flash (if you have one)
  • Laptop for editing and critique

We will have extra flashes for participants to use.
