Description: Join Tom and Cree in Southern Utah to photograph stunning red rock landscapes. We have chosen Bryce and Capitol Reef National Parks for our destinations to avoid the crowds and make the most of our time in the field. We will look for golden light at dawn and dusk and head out again at night for sessions under the stars. This year we have added a guided jeep tour to phootgraph the Temples of the Moon and Sun.

Capitol Reef National Park

Capitol Reef National Park is an International Dark Sky Park. We have timed our visit to take advantage of moonless skies. During the day we will photograph the red rock cliffs, canyons, domes and bridges in golden light, At night we will use tripods and wide angle lenses to capture the night sky above these features.

Bryce Canyon National Park

The red rock spires of Bryce Canyon are one of the iconic images of the American South West. This is the perfect spot to capture vivid panorama photographs of thousands of rock spires. As you descend down the trail into the spires, the photographs become even more interesting with giant pines, sunstars and rock silhouettes to create interest.

We have chosen the best of Utah landscapes for this workshop!

On this course you will learn about:

  • Exposure
  • Composition
  • Filter Use
  • Night Photography

Hotels: We will reserve a block of rooms for participants for the first two nights in Torrey, Utah in the Capitol Reef Resort. The last 2 nights we will be at the Bryce Canyon Grand Hotel by Best Western in Bryce Canyon City, Utah. After a morning shoot on Saturday, the workshop will end.

Closest Airport: From McCarran International Airport (LAS) in Las Vegas, Nevada it is 218 miles to Torrey. From Salt Lake City Airport (SLC) it is 212 miles. Both airports give you great access to other national parks in Utah after our workshop including Zion National Park, Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
