Details: Winter transforms Slovenia and Austria into a photographer’s dream. Snow-covered mountains, frozen lakes, and charming alpine villages create a world of pure magic. We will photograph the fairytale beauty of Slovenia’s Julian Alps and Triglav National Park with the timeless charm of Austria’s Hallstatt and Salzburg. From iconic lakeside churches and misty valleys to glacial vistas and historic cityscapes, every day offers new opportunities to capture the essence of winter in Central Europe.

Based first at Lake Bled, we immerse ourselves in Slovenia’s most enchanting settings, photographing alpine lakes, hidden villages, and traditional hilltop churches that stand proudly above the valleys. We then journey north into Austria, where the pastel-colored houses of Hallstatt, the sweeping views from Dachstein Glacier, and the baroque elegance of Salzburg complete this extraordinary photographic adventure. Each day is shaped by light, weather, and conditions, ensuring that no two experiences are alike, and that every participant leaves with a unique portfolio of winter images.

On this workshop you will:

• Photograph magical landscapes at dawn, dusk and Blue Hour daily
• Use ND filters to create silky water
• Use slow shutter techniques to create abstract images
• Photograph interesting locals
• Create travel images to provide a sense of place
• Participate in Image Reviews to improve your photography
• Learn new tips for editing in Lightroom and PhotoShop

Closest Airport: Fly into Ljubljana AIrport LJU in Slovenia – Plan to arrive in time for a morning departure by van on January 18 for Lake Bled. Departure will be from Salzburg, Austria SZK. To return to Ljubljana, book a scenic 4 hr train ride or fly on a commuter flight.

Before the Workshop: We recommend booking a room at the Allegro Hotel in Ljubljana if you arrive a night or two before the workshop begins. The hotel is located in the old town area and is the perfect location to explore the Dragon Bridge, the Triple Bridge or Ljubljana Castle. We will be coordinating airport transfers for everyone after we receive your travel details.

Recommended camera gear:

• 1 or 2 Camera bodies
• Lenses ranging from wide angle 24mm to 70-200mm
• Sturdy tripod
• Polarizing filter, ND filters
• Waterproofing for cameras and lenses

Know Before You Go: Rated Moderate. This workshop requires walking up to 1.5 miles in snow in low light. Warm weather clothing will be needed.
