Arctic Lights in Alaska

Details: This is a special aurora trip traveling above the arctic circle. We have hired professional drivers to safely take us into the magical winter Arctic landscape. We start our arctic adventure with two nights in Fairbanks including a photo session at the International Ice Carving Championships and a session of dog sledding. We then head north for 2 nights at Coldfoot Camp above the Arctic Circle. Iditarod 2026

Details: The Iditarod Sled Dog Race is called the “Last Great Race” in Alaska. Tom and Cree spent 10 years photographing and volunteering at the race when they lived in Alaska. Now they want to share that experience with you. On this workshop you will attend and photograph the Iditarod Musher Gala, the Ceremonial Iditarod start in downtown Anchorage, the Iditarod Restart in Willow, Alaska. We will fly in a small plane to the Iditarod checkpoint of Rainy Pass to photograph sled teams along the route. Limited to 5 photographers.
Costa Rica Rainforest

Description: Adventure with Tom and Cree Bol to Costa Rica to photograph the colorful mammals, birds and plants of the rain forest. Expect to wake up each morning listening to scarlet macaws in the almond trees near your room, and howler monkeys ‘howling’ in the distance. The resort grounds include an estuary with breeding snowy egrets, green herons, green kingfishers and boat-billed herons. Other trails lead to the beach and through the forest where you will see toucans and perhaps a sloth hanging in the trees. Yellow-headed Caracaras and roadside hawks are common, and you can practice your panning technique as they fly past your room.
Louisiana Birds and Bayous

Details: This is our most popular bear destination in Alaska and we are going in late July in hopes of photographing playful spring cubs! We start in Anchorage for a welcome dinner and fly to our comfortable lodge at Silver Salmon Creek in Lake Clark National Park to photograph coastal brown bears and their cubs. This time of year they graze on sedge grasses, dig for clams and start catching fish in the creek. The bear density in this area is remarkable. We will spend our days photographing bears as well as a morning photographing puffin by small boat.

Details: If Alaska is on your photography bucket list this workshop is for you. We will be visiting two of the gems of the Kenai Peninsula, Homer and Seward, Alaska. The Kenai Peninsula is known for it’s beautiful green mountains and it’s shoreline teeming with wildlife. While in Seward we will travel by boat into Kenai Fjords National Park to photograph calving glaciers and wildlife like Sea Otters, Humpback Whales, Stellar’s Sealion and more. We cross the peninsula in a comfortable coach stopping to photograph towering peaks with purple lupine in the foreground. In Homer we take to the water again in search of Bald Eagles, Bears and a visit to the quaint town of Seldovia. Both landscape and wildlife photographers will love this workshop!

Details: Join Tom and Cree Bol for a magical summer workshop in Iceland. This is the perfect combination of wildlife and landscape photography. We are headed to Grimsey Island to photograph the Atlantic Puffin. We have timed this workshop to hit prime time for photos of puffin catching small fish for their young. We also spend time photographing Icelandic horses on a remote farm. We will use the endless soft light in July to explore the Highlands of Iceland, one of Europe’s largest unpopulated areas. It is full of glaciers, volcanoes, amazing waterfalls and hot springs.
Alaska Black Bears

Details: Join Tom and Cree in Wrangell, Alaska to photograph black bears feasting on pink salmon in the rainforest. We spend three full days photographing the bears and two days looking for marine animals like Sea Otters, Stellar’s Sealions, Humpback Whales and Harbor Seals. We explore the towns of Wrangell and Petersburg and visit one of the most active tidewater glaciers in Alaska, the dazzling blue LeConte Glacier. If the weather is clear, we will eat on the outdoor deck by our hotel and wait for bright orange sunsets to light up the distant islands.
Katmai Brown Bears

Details: Photographing brown bears in Alaska is a bucket list trip for wildlife photographers. Bristol Bay hosts one of the largest salmon runs in the world. The Sockeye salmon attract bears….and the number of bears are staggering. On this trip we photograph boars, sows and plenty of cubs….often chasing bright red salmon up the streams. In 2026 we will be rafting down rivers with bears fishing on both sides. We stop on gravel bars and set up to photograph bears in action.
We fly into a remote lodge on Lake Iliamna and have access to bush planes each day to transport us to our shooting locations. Each day we plan our destination based on where the bears are congregating: remote parts of Katmai National Park, and the iconic Brooks Falls. Read more
