This is Africa as you’ve always imagined it to be: the magic of a Serengeti sunset, the teeming wildlife of Ngorongoro Crater. A safari to Tanzania is a special adventure into the premier game-viewing country of Africa. Tanzania’s great game parks and reserves are unsurpassed anywhere in the world. We’ll see all of the major plains animals, zebras, giraffes, impalas, gazelles, and other herbivores. There will be baboons and monkeys, herds of elephant and buffalo, and some of the most wonderful bird life you will ever see.
We have planned this safari during this period for a special reason — the Serengeti migration, the greatest wildlife spectacle on earth. Our trip is timed to coincide with the annual migration of thousands of animals through the central & southern corridor, and with luck we will witness the herds as they travel across the region to the Maasai Mara in Kenya.
Redwoods and Rocky Coastlines – 1 Space Available
Dates: July 5-9, 2023 Read More
Location: Crescent City, California and Bandon Beach, Oregon
Details: Of all the wilderness areas in the US, Redwoods National Park may be the most awe-inspiring. It is home of the world’s largest and tallest trees. Walking through the redwoods in coastal California envelops the photographer in foggy, other-worldly terrain. The giant trees lumber toward the sky in a palette of chartreuse moss and deep red bark which contrast with the dark conifers. The Oregon coast is the second destination on our journey, a beachcomber’s paradise with layers of sea stacks. We chose the month of July for our workshop because it is the driest month of the summer. This offers the best chance to photograph beams of sunlight filtering through the fog.

The air is cool, the elk are bugling in the forest, and the night skies are great for star photography.
We have been leading trips to this area for over a decade, and will take you to some of our favorite spots. We will photograph classic areas like Dallas Divide and Mt. Sneffels, explore the incredible groves along Last Dollar Road, and head up into the high country for beautiful orange aspens near Owl Creek Pass and Chimney Rock. Above Ouray we will photograph more stands of aspen and deserted gold mines. In addition to the grand landscapes, macro photography is excellent. We also plan to light paint and photograph the stars one night.

Location: Socorro and Alamagordo, New Mexico
Details: Bosque del Apache in New Mexico is one of the best places in the world to photograph sandhill cranes. During the morning first light, the Bosque “blast off” provides the chance to shoot thousands of snow geese all taking off at once.
Tom and Cree have been photographing at Bosque for years. During their visit in 2018, there were 10,000 sandhill cranes and 30, 000 snow geese at the refuge. There are also frequent sightings of Gambel’s Quail, Hooded Mergansers and Bald Eagles.
