Ouray Fall Colors – SOLD OUT

Dates: Sept 27-Oct 1, 2023                                           Read More

Location: Ouray, Colorado

Cost: $1499

Details: Western Colorado in the fall has one of the most vibrant displays of autumn color in the United States.  Home to the densest groves of aspen trees in the country, brilliant gold and orange aspens saturate the valleys below the jagged snow-capped peaks of the San Juan Mountains.  The air is cool, the elk are bugling in the forest, and the night skies are great for star photography.

We have been leading trips to this area for over a decade, and will take you to some of our favorite spots.  We will photograph classic areas like Dallas Divide and Mt. Sneffels, explore the incredible groves along Last Dollar Road, and head up into the high country for beautiful orange aspens near Owl Creek Pass and Chimney Rock.  Above Ouray we will photograph more stands of aspen and deserted gold mines.  In addition to the grand landscapes, macro photography is excellent.  We also plan to light paint and photograph the stars one night.

Slovenia is one of Tom’s favorite places in Europe…..and most people know very little about it! Imagine a country with vineyards like Tuscany, Mediterranean beaches, Alpes like Austria and high alpine lakes like Switzerland. The best part: they are all only a few hours apart. It is the best of Europe without the crowds and the driving.

Details: Come join Tom and Cree on a classic road trip; Route 66.  Steeped in history and Americana, Route 66 was one of America’s first highways stretching from Chicago, IL to Santa Monica, CA.  During the dustbowl of the 1930s thousands migrated west on Route 66 looking for jobs and a better life.  In later years Route 66 was replaced by the interstate highway system, but many segments were preserved and are still drivable today.   More recently many classic neon signs, diners and hotels have been restored, and we plan to photograph some of the best sights along Route 66.

For the second part of the trip, we will travel to White Sands National Park to photograph stark yucca plants on dazzling white dunes of gypsum sand. The monument includes 265 miles of sand. There is plenty of space to roam looking for the perfect desert landscape.
