Redwoods & Rocky Coastlines

Spaces Available

Dates: July 24-28, 2019

Crescent City, CA and Bandon Beach, OR                 Cost: $1199

Details: Of all the wilderness areas in the US, Redwoods National Park may be the most awe-inspiring. It is home of the world’s largest and tallest trees. Walking through the redwoods in coastal California envelops the photographer in foggy, other-worldly terrain. The giant trees lumber toward the sky in a palette of chartreuse moss and deep red bark which contrast with the dark conifers. The Oregon coast is the second destination on our journey, a beachcomber’s paradise with layers of sea stacks. We chose the month of July for our workshop because it is the driest month of the summer. This offers the best chance to photograph beams of sunlight filtering through the fog.

Patagonia – 2 Spaces Available

Location: Buenos Aires, Argentina

Dates: December 2-12, 2019 (in country – does not include flight days)

Cost: $6889 double occupancy, $1200 single supplement, $1000 deposit due upon registration.

Description: Twenty five years ago Tom and I pushed our sea kayaks off a rocky beach into the pristine waters of Seno Aysen in Patagonia.  We began a two month sea kayak journey deep into remote fjords and rainforest rarely visited by anyone.  We encountered exotic wildlife, rolled our kayaks while penguins swam past, and read Darwin journey entries about the areas we were visiting.  We were so far off the grid that we couldn’t find accurate tide charts for the fjords we were exploring.   After 62 days of paddling, we were spellbound by Patagonia.  We’ve been returning ever since to this spectacular area.

Patagonia is a region defined by jaw-dropping landscapes, abundant wildlife and rich gaucho culture.  We’ve been working with the same guide for over 20 years, and have specifically designed this photo tour to experience the best Patagonia has to offer in both Argentina and Chile.  Read more
